SDGs Challenge [Underwater Robot Cleaning the Sea]

What skills do we need in the 21st century?

The 21st century to longer rewards the cramming of knowledge into one's head.

Instead, today's children are expected to adopt multi-purpose skills that they can apply to various professions, fields, and areas of life. Here's our shortlist of the top ten 21st-century skills that you can instill in your kids through both good education and upbringing.

And we need the must-have 21st century skills for kids.

They encourage communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and imagination, problem-solving, analytical thinking, digital literacy, leadeship and global, cultural awareness.

STEAM tools such as Cubroid are the perfect means to teach children these 21st century skills.

This is to learn basic concepts of scratch program by using MIT scratch 3.0 program. By programming and controlling Cubroid block directly, it helps to expand the creative activity by finding a connection between the real world and programming, rather than using only a simple computer input and output.

What is the SDGs? (Research Topic)

The Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) are a set of 17 global goals established by the United Nations in 2015 to adress pressing social, economic, and envionmental challenges. These goals aim to achieve a better and more sustianble future for all by 2030. The international community's largest common goal is to adress universal problems of human(poverty, disease, education, gender equality, refugees, conflict, etc.), global environmental problems(climate change, energy, environmental pollution, water, housing, labor, employment, production consumption, social structure, law, internal and external economy) to be implemented with 17 main goals and 169 detailed goals by 2030.

We can find out about the problem of marine plastic pollution, which has a huge impact on the marine environment. For example, there are decrease in animal, plant population, destruction of natural scenery. These cause indigestion in marine animals, ruin the scenery of the see and damaging nature by giving off a bad smell. So, people take efforts to address the problem of marine plastic pollution. Let's solve the problem using artificial intelligence functions and robots with the goal of realizing zero marine plastic according to the resolution of Unite Nations Environmental General Assembly.

We make team and have idea sketch meeting. Team members think the solution about zero marine plastic waste. And we can make underwater cleaning robot when AI recognizes sea water.

Seeing Cubroid assembly drawing, we can assemble the underwater robot.

We train label image learning with the Cubroid machine learning in the extension function of the Curo AI program. Training moving training fish image data forward, back, left, right and clicking 'Label 1,2,3' command block, learn more than 15 times. We can experience AI learning with this.

We can connect 2 DC motor block, LED block and program it. We check the programming reusult by receiving the signal of artificial intelligence that recognizes unlearned test sea fish image data operate. Finally, seeing the project video, we check how we felt while working on the project.

Learning about AI project assignment fosters a dynamic environment where students can explore technology's impact on society while gaining practical skills in AI. The projects were designed and delivered in partnership with the team. Through the results of project, it is helpful to acquire teamwork problem-solving ability, creative thinking, and scientific knowledge to share ideas and develop a sense of cooperation. Cubroid coding blocks will help the children this.
